Packaging: Oxidized LDL is membrane filtered and aseptically packaged in a solution containing phosphate-buffered saline at pH 7.4 and 50 μM EDTA.

Preparation: TB Human LDL (Cat. No. TBP1) (which was purified to homogeneity via ultra-centrifugation(1.019-1.063g/cc)) is oxidized using 5M Cu₂SO₄(oxidant) in PBS at 37°C for 20hours. Oxidation is terminated by adding excess EDTA. Each lot is analyzed on agarose gel electrophoresis for migration versus LDL. This lot of OxLDL migrates 2.0fold further than the native LDL.

TBARS: TBARS is determined colorimetrically by using Malondialdehyde as a standard.

Stability: This product is stable for 8 weeks after receipt when handled aseptically and stored at 2-8°C. NEVER FREEZE.

*Special Note: After prolonged storage, some precipitate may be observed. This is normal for this product. Clarify out the aggregates by spinning in a microfuge for 2 minutes.

Biological

Activity: Sample lots of TB Oxidized LDL are evaluated for receptor binding to peritoneal macrophages in conjunction with our DiI-Ox-LDL and [I-125] Ox-LDL.

*Preparations of Oxidized LDL are fairly unstable; plan your experiments in advance and use fresh material.
